About Tournisec

Tournisec saves OR time by increasing surgeon and nursing efficiency and improves patient experience potentially leading to higher patient satisfaction scores.

This occurs because Tournisec makes tourniquet placement faster and easier for surgeons.  Tournisec secures excess adipose tissue and male genitals so nurses do not need to manually hold these structures while the tourniquet is applied. Instead they are free to perform other important tasks.  Tournisec creates a better patient experience because they are no longer naked beneath their hospital gown.  Everybody wins!

Tournisec is a simple, form fitting, single use pair of shorts made of stockinette that are donned by the patient at the time they change into their hospital gown in the pre-op area so there is no extra work by hospital personnel.  It is made of stockinette because it will serve as the padding, helping to facilitate tourniquet placement and secure the tourniquet.

The Tournisec shorts design does not move, shift or have edges to get caught under the tourniquet during application of the tourniquet.  It is already in place so no padding needs to be applied, saving a step in the OR.  Tourniquet applications is immediate and very simple.   Because Tournisec holds male genitals away and contains excess adipose tissue, no assistant is needed to place the tourniquet, freeing nursing personnel to perform other vital tasks.  Male genitals can be swept across the midline toward the contralateral limb. To be sure the genitals are not caught as the tourniquet is initially placed, simply look down inside from the waist and then double check again before tightening the tourniquet in place.  Once the tourniquet is in place the distal end is folded back up the thigh over the tourniquet to secure it.

Tournisec is indicated for lower extremity procedures where a thigh tourniquet is to be used.  This includes knee procedures like total knee replacement, arthroscopic procedures like partial meniscectomies and ACL reconstructions as well as foot/ankle procedures.
